Frequently Asked Questions
The Project
What is Lumabit?
Lumabit is a learning tool that maps out topics as clear visual paths. It helps you see what there is to know, then guides you through bite-sized steps to build your skills and understanding at your own pace.
How does Lumabit work?
Each subject is organized into tracks, paths, and steps - with each step containing small bits of learning. You can easily mark all the bits for review and to track your own progress.
Who is Lumabit for?
Anyone who wants to keep learning - students, professionals, and curious individuals.
What makes Lumabit different from other learning platforms or apps?
Lumabit gives you a clear map of the knowledge space. You can see the big picture and the next small step - discover what you know, what's next, and what's worth exploring.
Is Lumabit a non-profit?
No. Lumabit is operated by a for-profit company, but profit is not the main driver. Our goal is sustainable access to quality learning for as many people as possible.
How can I contribute to the project?
There are many ways to support the project: share it with others, send feedback on the app and roadmaps, or sponsor a feature. To get involved, contact us.
How do I contact the Lumabit team?
Email us at [email protected], or use our contact form. We welcome all questions and feedback.
The Website
Do I need an account to try it out?
No. You can browse and explore without creating an account. Signing up lets you save progress for use on any device.
Is Lumabit free?
You can use Lumabit without payment. Contributions are voluntary, on a pay-what-you-choose basis, to support ongoing development.
Are there premium features or subscriptions?
Right now, all existing features are available to all, whether you choose to support us or use it for free. Premium features may be introduced later - particularly for teams, companies, and families with extra collaboration features. Everything that is currently free will remain free.
Is there a mobile app?
Lumabit runs smoothly in your web browser on desktop, tablet, and mobile - no installable apps are planned at this moment.
How can I give feedback or report an issue?
Use the feedback option inside the app (todo!), or email [email protected]. Suggestions and bug reports are very welcome.
The Content
Can I create my own roadmaps?
Not yet. Roadmaps are currently created and curated by Lumabit. You can suggest new ones at lumabit.org/create or reach out to discuss your ideas.
Is there a specific learning order?
You're encouraged to explore the different branches of the roadmap, to focus on what matters to you.
Can children use Lumabit?
Yes, anyone can use Lumabit. We encourage parents and teachers to guide younger learners and help them follow age-appropriate topics. Learners can remain anonymous and no messaging functions between users exist that could be open to abuse.
